Wembley was named in the 1920s, the tram arrived in 1927, and the Wembley Hotel on Cambridge Street opened in 1932. A lot of the original homes from that period are still here, many of them renovated, alongside units that replaced older houses after the war.

In a house that old, the wiring behind the walls can be much older than the kitchen or bathroom in front of it. Homes this age can still have ceramic fuse boards, rubber insulated cable and circuits with no safety switch at all. None of that is safe to keep adding to.

Renovations are a common reason to call an electrician here. Before new lights, power points or an induction cooktop go in, the existing wiring and board need checking, and a partial or full rewire is often the sensible time to do it while walls and ceilings are open.
