About this Service

Buetec Electrical does everyday electrical work for homes across Perth's northern suburbs and the inner west, based in Clarkson.

Residential electrical work covers what comes up in everyday home ownership, power point installations, lighting upgrades, fault finding, faulty switches, ceiling fan installs, and general house wiring. No job is treated as too small to quote properly, and every job gets a fixed price before we start, regardless of size.

Home electrical work in Perth

Most home jobs are small but still need doing properly. Extra power points, LED downlights and light fittings, ceiling fans, outdoor lighting, fault finding when something keeps tripping, and replacing damaged switches and power points. We also do rewires in older homes, where old cable has reached the end of its life.

When a safety switch keeps tripping, the cause is usually one faulty appliance or one damaged circuit. We test each circuit to find it rather than guessing, then give you a fixed price to fix it. If an appliance is the cause, we tell you, so you are not paying for work you do not need.

In older homes, signs that a rewire is due include ceramic fuses, rubber insulated cable and wiring that has been extended many times. The best time to do it is during a renovation, while walls and ceilings are open.

Smoke alarm installation in Perth

WA has strict smoke alarm rules. Before a home is sold, rented or hired out, it must have compliant smoke alarms. They have to be connected to mains power, be no more than 10 years old and meet the Australian Standard. Only a licensed electrical contractor can install mains powered smoke alarms.

A battery alarm with a 10 year sealed battery is only allowed where there is no hidden space to run the wiring, and that usually needs approval from your local council.

If you are selling or leasing, or your alarms are more than 10 years old, we can check them and replace them with compliant mains powered alarms.

How we quote

We look at the job, give you a fixed price before we start, and stick to it. No surprise fees. Every job is done under WA Electrical Contractor Licence EC13712.

Common questions

Do smoke alarms have to be hard wired in WA?

Before a sale, rental or hire, yes in most homes. Alarms must be mains powered, under 10 years old and installed by a licensed electrical contractor.

How often should smoke alarms be replaced?

WA requires alarms to be no more than 10 years old when a home is sold, rented or hired. Check the date on the back of each alarm.

Is any job too small to quote?

No. A single power point or light fitting gets a fixed price before we start, just like a bigger job.
