Quinns Rocks started as beach shacks in the 1930s to 1950s and became a townsite in 1962. The houses in Old Quinns mostly date from the 1960s and 1970s, and the Norfolk Estate was added in the early 1990s.

In Old Quinns, wiring and switchboards can be original or close to it. Ceramic fuses, no safety switches and cable that has been extended many times over the years are all common in homes this age. A switchboard upgrade, and sometimes a rewire, is the safe fix.

Before renovating one of these older homes, it is worth knowing what condition the wiring is in, so you can budget for it rather than finding out halfway through.

Right on the coast, salt air corrodes outdoor lights, meter boxes and external power points across the whole suburb, new or old. We replace those with fittings suited to the conditions.
